“Who preferably, steers the CAB”

This is an interesting question which pops up a lot in our forums for eLearning students and our boardroom programs. There seems to be this notion that the CAB members have to be the same group of people. This is not the case! The people who are involved in the assessment of changes are from different fields of expertise, depending on the type of RFC.

The ITIL® lifecycle phase of Service Transition does have a section on the change authority and how this links in with the CAB. Ultimately the Change Manager chairs the CAB meetings, but there is an option for a higher level of change authority to have the final say about certain RFC’s.
