ITILGovernance

The question of ITIL®™ Governance is an issue that has sparked some debate in recent times. The primary issue is whether ITIL® is a well enough defined model to act as a Governance framework for organizations.

There is no single clear definition of Governance, but let’s think of it as “control”. ITIL® Governance then becomes a question of well defined processes that allow IT Managers to improve the level of control that they have in their IT environments.

ITIL® Governance processes include Incident Management (aimed at restoring normal service in as short a time as possible), Financial Management for IT Services (to manage effective accounting, budgeting and charging) and eight other process areas.

When you consider that ITIL® has been developed for many years and is still experiencing increasing adoption rates then as a Governance framework it has a major part to play.
