The age old question
about what is a fair salary for a change manager or any other ITIL
process manager is one that there will never be a single answer
for.
The ITIL Change
Management salary range needs to cater for the fact that most
organizations have widely different views on what constitutes Change
Management.
A salary within the
range for Change Management (or other ITIL process) can accommodate
“participants in the process” versus “owners of the
process”.
Process owners must
have the responsibility for the process and it’s relationships to
other process owners. Participants must be provided with the skills
necessary to carry out their part of the
process.
Of course, in most
situations the process owner and process participant have their
functionally duties to perform, as well as their process related
activities. Unless the organization is very liberal then it is
unlikely that the process activities will attract additional
remuneration. This is due to the basic fact that most staff are
rewarded on the functional skills and experience that they bring to
the organization.
