itSMF Pocket Guide is
the name given to a very handy reference guide that was written and
published originally in 2001 based on the latest version of the OGC material. Since then
minor updates have been published in May and October
2002.
Handy
Reference
The itSMF Pocket
Guide, was originally designed as a handy reference book for IT
Service management practitioners and for those about to take the
Foundations exam. It is described by the author as being
complimentary to the ITIL books, but I feel it goes much further
than that.
For those people new
to ITIL, the books can be a real struggle to read where this handy
little book makes it easy to understand the key concepts without
having to wade through a lot of other material. That of course, does
not negate the need for the original OGC material as this goes to
far more depth.
Explanations
The itSMF Pocket Guide
explains things such as the philosophy behind Service Management and
the Importance of Communication. This book actually forms quite a
good resource to act as a study guide for those, as previously
mentioned, about to take the Foundations exam.
If your organization
is going to add some ITIL books to your library, ensure they get a
couple of these as well!
