The question of ITIL™
Governance is an issue that has sparked some debate in recent times.
The primary issue is whether ITIL is a well enough defined model to
act as a Governance framework for
organizations.
There is no single
clear definition of Governance, but let’s think of it as “control”.
ITIL Governance then becomes a question of well defined processes
that allow IT Managers to improve the level of control that they
have in their IT environments.
ITIL Governance
processes include Incident Management (aimed at restoring normal
service in as short a time as possible), Financial Management for IT
Services (to manage effective accounting, budgeting and charging)
and eight other process areas.
When you consider that
ITIL has been developed for many years and is still experiencing
increasing adoption rates then as a Governance framework it has a
major part to play.
